The 2005 World Series of Poker Champion is Joseph Hachem. Mr. Hachem won an amazing $7,500,000.00 in this year’s tournament. Joseph Hachem is a 39 year old husband and father of 4 who lives in Australia. He was born in Lebanon and used to be a Chiropractor, but is now a Professional Poker Player. Mr. Hachem beat Steven Dannenmann with a straight verses two pair on the final hand of the tournament. This was Mr. Hachem’s first World Series of Poker, and when he won this, his first event, he joined the ranks of Chris Moneymaker (2003 winner) and Greg “Fossilman” Raymer (2004 winner) in winning his very first WSOP. Another first in the WSOP - Joseph Hachem is the first Australian WSOP Champion. Though Hachem is a spokesman for PokerStars Online Poker Room, he did not gain his entry into the WSOP online, he fronted his $10,000 and definitely got his money’s worth. He was quoted saying, "A million dollars changes my life, let alone $7.5 million. It changes everything. I can look after my family, my mum, my kids."
